Project 602

When Bruce and I moved to Weatherford over a year ago, we sought a church to attend where we would be fed spiritually.  We visited New River Fellowship and were amazed at the awesome worship, the life-changing small groups, and the anointed preaching of Pastor Scott.  As senior citizens, however, we felt the possibility of us learning new things was probably limited.  Having attended an assortment of churches over the years and been involved in church ministries before moving here, we thought we had sort of seen it all, but our concepts of Christian growth took on a whole new meaning.
New River is a very progressive, contemporary church with lots of young to middle age families in it.  We spent years in the Gaither singer era, if you know what I mean.  Don’t get me wrong, I still love the Gaithers.  I’ve even got a link to them on my blog, but this new church has been a powerful force in our lives.  There is an energy there that resonates within us, challenging us to be better servants of God.
As our church grew, however, we began running out of space for new people coming into the services and kid’s ministries.  Even the overflow room was frequently filled to capacity.   Modifications of existing services were quickly made to accommodate the crowds.
After much prayer and fasting, our church pastors launched a new building campaign which involves a new building on the church property site, plus renovations of the existing building for children’s ministry, high school and college ages.  It also includes the purchase of a building in Mineral Wells, Texas, 30 miles away, which will house our first satellite church.
Very simply put, Project 602 is the new building campaign of our church here at New River Fellowship.  My husband, Bruce, and I are very committed to this project as we have seen people come to the Lord Jesus, marriages restored, and people’s lives changed and set free from bondages of their past.  I encourage you to visit our church’s website at www.newriver.tv, or click on the link on the sidebar which will take you directly to the 602 project.  We really appreciate your prayers about this project because it is the prayers of God’s people that help to move his hand.  And should you feel led to contribute to this ministry, there is a tab on the 602 project webpage where you can click and give.  In Pastor Scott’s words, “It’s never been about a church, it’s about a vision.”
